The Candidates Tournament takes place in London in March 14, 2013 till April 1, 2013.

It determines the challenger for the 2013 World Chess Championship Match and will be the strongest tournament of its kind in history.

The winner of the candidates tournament becomes the challenger to Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand who is world champion since 2007.

The Candidates is a double round-robin tournament with four rest days.

Highest rated player is Magnus Carlsen (NORWAY) who is rated No. 1 in the world and is highest rated player in the history of chess.

Magnus Carlsen wins tournament. The Tournament rules count the number of wins to break the tie – Carlsen had five, Kramnik four wins. So Magnus Carlsen won the tournament and is the official challenger against Anand for the World Chess Championship.
