  • JavaChess v4.2
    Copyright André Heuner (2002)

Try to apply the chess strategies that you have learned so far. This java chess program is a bit weaker than the other program at PlayChess I, but it is still very strong and hard to beat. Try it yourself.

If you are a beginner and you find this program too difficult then go to the Flash Program PlayChess III or PlayChess IV or try RoboChess which is the weakest. It plays the worst game I have ever seen so far. However, test some openings and get practical chess experience.

    To change playing color
Go with mouse over board and right click on mouse!
    select >> View / Rotate board <<

You can change other settings too. For example you can play different chess-variants.

    How to castle
When you wish to castle move your king TWO squares in direction of rook.

    En passant
When you capture a pawn >en passant< just move the pawn. The captured pawn will be removed automatically.
