Pentala Harikrishna - Indian Chess Grandmaster

Pentala Harikrishna is an indian chess grandmaster. He was born 10th of May 1986 in Vinjanam Padu, Distrikt Prakasam, Andhra Pradesh.

In 1996 he became world champion in the category U10 at Menorca. In 2000 his ELO-Rating moved up higher to more than 2500 and he was called to become a member of the indian National Team to participate at the Chess Olympiad in Istanbul. He scored +2, -0, =9.






In 2001, just aged 15, he received the title of a grandmaster and became the youngest grandmaster of India ever in history. His FIDE Rating is 2659 (December 2008) and he is ranked as number 62 in the world.
In India he is the third best player after Viswanathan Anand and K. Sasikiran.
