My father in law passed away, and while clearing out his house, I came upon a chess set in the original box with packing and provenance.
The set came from the Hang On Ivory Factory, fac#34, Hong Kong, believed to have been purchased during one of his tours overseas, purchase date 8/14/1963, purchase price 411.00.
In the box was the original purchase document. The box, although original, is in ok condition, the game board/pieces are in great condition and doesn't look like it was ever played on, a few of the player piece retention straps are loose.
After talking it over with the family/estate officer, they have asked me to check on the potential for sale, as I was the one who rescued it from the dumpster.
Here are a few pictures of the box, set, board and provenance.
I have an appraisal coming, but pre. those results, looking what you think of the set. Hints of value are greatly appreciated, offers will be considered.
You can email me at y2kzr2@yahoo.com
Thank you for your time and recommendations.
