Chess Sacrifices and Combinations

You should build a superior position first before you apply tactics. If your pieces are placed on inferior squares it is unlikely that you get advantageous tactical chances that favor you and not the opponent. This is just common sense.

You cannot let your opponent get ahead in development and then expect to get the better tactics. It is silly to expect this.

To learn, how to win at chess, study the following tactical positions from Fred Reinfeld, taken from his book, 1001 Winning Chess Sacrifices and Combinations, which is to the best of my knowledge in the public domain.

If you study continously this will improve your tactical abilities in the long run and will develop your tactical eye.

Fred Reinfeld (1910-1964) was a well known American writer on chess and other subjects and a strong chess master. He wrote over 200 books on different subjects, but most on chess.

You can study some of the tactical positions from 1001 Winning Chess Sacrifices and Combinations below.
