Fahim Alam, a Chess Prodigy from Bangladesh, won the French Under 12 Chess Championship.
His father Nura Alam taught his son the game of chess at the age of six in Bangladesh. Fahim Mohammad Alam had already shown that he has talent and decided to leave the country with his family. They moved to India, Hungary and finally France in 2008.
The father hoped to find a way to stay in Europe with his son to enable Fahim to become a chess professional. Fahim had won the Paris Championship’s Open B tournament and other little tournaments in this area but feared deportation.
After some time of uncertainty he and his father finally received temporary documents to stay in France and avoided becoming an illegal immigrant. He also applied for political asylum.
We wish him the best for his future.
