Viswanathan Anand versus Veselin Topalov 2010

Results: 6.5 : 5.5

Both players were even until Veselin Topalov (Elo 2805) lost the last game with White in the 12-game match.

Anand (Elo 2787) employed the old Lasker Defense with the black pieces willing to accept a draw that would lead to a result of 6 : 6 and would have forced a rapid chess playoff. But Topalov weakened his kingside and was unable to escape a loss.

Anand remained world champion.
